Amazing portrait photography

Amazing portrait photography, or at least the good stuff which sticks with you, always tells a story.  My goal, when I started photography, was to try to really understand the Technique required to get the best shot, and not rely on photo tricks to make photos people would love.  These days, Photoshop and other programs make the whole process seem simple, but this is where the decent photographers are separated from the Great photographers.  The Great Ones get it right in-camera, using the right equipment, experience, and preparation, and then the required post-processing is minimal.

In today’s world of cell phones with amazing cameras, most people never really understand the work which goes into getting the perfect shot.  Planning, researching locations, preparing the right tech for the project, and then teaching the clients so they understand that this is not a standard photo session, but rather, something they will need to put in work to accomplish is absolutely essential.  When this is effectively communicated to my clients, and if they are willing to really put in the effort, the results are always amazing, and the clients will have an even deeper connection with the photo.

Anyone who hires Pure Touch Photography for a photo session will soon learn that successful and impactful images do not just happen, and my clients are expected to put in the work right along with me.  I will guide, instruct, educate and prepare, and then, when we work as a team, the results are always stunning.

Here’s a great short article where a photographer discusses his planning and execution to pull off a fantastic, award-winning shot.  Enjoy:

Sizzling Hot Summer Photography Tips

Summer is the best time to get the perfect shot that you always wanted, with crystal clear skies and warm sunshine. The months of June, July, August and September have the best weather to take stunning outdoor snaps so here are 13 tricks for getting that great shot outdoors this summer.

Use natural light for the best results

Use natural light when you can for the best lighting. Natural sunlight is softer and warmer than artificial light, so it’s ideal for portraits and macro photography – as long as your subject isn’t taking too much shade.

Take pictures from different angles

You need to get more creative and try to take pictures from different angles – get low, up high, or even behind something in the foreground. You’ll find that different angles can make your subject look completely different.

Use the right shutter speed for movement

If you’re taking pictures of people, pets or any moving object, then use a fast shutter speed to freeze motion. Set the shooting mode dial on top of your camera to Auto and small aperture (low number) if possible. This will help you get a crisp shot without blurring any unwanted objects in the foreground or background that are not stationary – so change your shooting modes according to such situations.

A tripod is a great option for night photography

If you want to take pictures at night with no city lights around, a tripod is an ideal option as it will keep your shot even and steady. The results can be great with a tripod, giving you clear shots of objects in the dark. Be sure to use the built-in flash or increase ISO sensitivity if there’s no option for available light.

Use a wide aperture setting

You can’t always shoot in bright sunlight, so a wider aperture is needed on cloudy days and at night. Your images will look more professional with less noise and greater depth of field that blurs out unwanted elements behind your subject. You’ll not lose any details or have any parts of your shot too dark as well – so don’t go overboard on the shutter speed!

Experiment with filters

Experiment with filters on Instagram or other photo editing apps before taking your picture. See how it looks and if you like the result – then use that filter when you take actual photos, same goes for any other photo editing app or program that is available on the market.

Take pictures from high up

One of the best ways to get unique shots this summer is to climb a tall building and look down on it. It’s an exciting viewpoint to shoot from so add more drama to your photographs by getting above your subject – this can double as one of the best places for cityscape photography too!

Get closer with macro photography

Don’t be afraid to get really close with macro (close-up) photography! Get even better close-ups than using a zoom lens, experiment using a full frame camera and macro lens. You’ll see how much detail you can get with such photography, from the tiniest flower to an ant on a leaf – use your imagination and creativity for that perfect shot!

Get down low

Always shoot from ground level too. Take pictures of flowers, bugs or anything else close up from the bottom-up for creative results. This is great if you have a good zoom lens, plus you’ll be able to get all those interesting angles everyone likes so much in photos these days – try it out this summer!

Take plenty of shots

keep shooting until you get the best picture possible Forget about deleting pictures before uploading to social media sites like Instagram because what works for one person won’t necessarily work for another. Keep shooting until you get the best picture possible and then try to get something trending on social media networks like Instagram – it will be fun, trust me!

Play with different colours of light

When taking photos, play around with all the different colours of light that are available – use a flash or daylight, plus experiment with lighting from other sources too like candles or matches. Try playing with sunlight in your home as well – by using windows to create shadows or shining light through colored glass bottles. The possibilities are endless when there’s so much natural (and man-made) ambient light in any environment we find ourselves in.

Use a tripod

Use a tripod to avoid blurry photos. Whenever you are shooting in low-light, a slow shutter speed or if there’s any movement in the image, using a tripod is really useful to achieve clear shots.

Plan your photo shoot

Before taking pictures of friends by the pool on a hot summer day, for example, make sure you know exactly where to stand and what aperture settings to use – plan these details beforehand! You’ll avoid problems with subjects too close or ones that are too far away and will have more time to get the best shot. Decide on locations first as well so that you don’t miss out on anything interesting when waiting for your subject(s).

Use social media sites like Instagram

Photography is all about art, but it can be a great way to network or even make money, too! Photography is all about art, but it can be a great way to network or even make money, too – try gaining followers on social media sites like Instagram and selling your pictures there.

Know where the light is coming from

Depending on the time of day you take photos, the light will come from different directions! You might get into big problems if you don’t know what this means. If my subject is in shadow when I expect them to be well-lit because I’m shooting at an aperture that should produce something totally different – so always think about where light comes from before shooting. A common mistake for beginners who are still learning how lenses work!

Shoot monochrome

Shooting in black and white or monochrome is a classic way to add something different and creative to photographs. You can always shoot in color then convert your photos into black and white afterwards, too.

Capture moments that mean something to you

The best photos are the ones that mean something to someone – try capturing these types of photos whenever you have an opportunity! Photography as a hobby can be great for those who want to capture certain places/events/moments that they will cherish forever – so if this sounds like you, get out there with your camera now before it’s too late!

What you need to know about Professional Photography

Professional photography is an important part of any business. It can be used for marketing purposes or to simply provide a professional image of your company to the public. This article will discuss what you need to know about professional photography and how it can help your business grow and succeed.

Professional photography is not just about taking pictures

Professional photographers offer a wide variety of services that might include anything from headshots or portraits, family photos, engagement shoots, weddings, events, and even senior pictures.
It is not just about taking photos. Photographers are more than just “shutterbugs” who snap photos and leave. They provide professional advice, work in a timely manner, have excellent customer service skills, and can offer customers the latest technological advances to make their photography experience as comfortable as possible.

Professional photographers do not just come from one particular type of background or educational level. Professional photographers may have a formal education in photography, or they may be self-taught. They could come from any background such as the arts, marketing, graphic design, and advertising
A professional photographer can work with every type of client and needs. Some clients might require just one shot while others need photos for their website that are tailored to meet specific SEO requirements. Regardless of the type, professional photographers will work to deliver high-quality images that represent your business or event in a positive light.

Professional photography can be expensive for some people and difficult on tight budgets. However, professional photographers still have many affordable options available so you are not spending more money than necessary. Professional photographers might offer different packages with either a set number of hours or unlimited services for the length of your contract.
Professional photographers will often charge by the hour, which is more expensive in general than paying per project when you are just looking to update photos on a website every few months.

Professional photographers work with a variety of clients from CEOs to fashion models and everything in between

Professional photographers are experts in every aspect of the business and offer a wide range of packages. They will often charge by the hour, which is more expensive than paying per project when you’re just looking to update photos on your website every few months. Professionals work with a variety of clients from CEOs to fashion models and everything in between. They work with different occasions or events, like weddings and birthdays.
The worst time to find a professional photographer is when you need one, so it’s best to book one in advance.
A professional photographer should be able to give you a list of their past clients, and if they’re really good at what they do then those are the type of pictures that will make for an attractive portfolio when deciding who to hire. They should have experience with portraits, fashion photography, corporate events, and more as well as some knowledge about lighting techniques or other specialties (e.g., product photography). It’s also important to mention how many people work on set during the session; most photoshoots involve two-to-four people – but this number can vary depending on needs. A professional photographer often has connections with studios or locations where photoshoots take place too – which helps them create a professional-quality environment.

The best professional photographers have experience, knowledge, and expertise that will allow them to capture images for your company or event that you won't be able to find anywhere else.

Do you have a geographic location in mind? A lot of couples want to incorporate their favorite places into an engagement session. The key thing is being able to tell an authentic story through the imagery of those moments in time so it becomes something tangible and real for people who weren’t there themselves. And along with these skills, they need an eye for composition, light and color management, and the ability to direct a person into just the right pose.
There are many benefits to using a professional photographer for your next project or event – like, you’ll receive images that will make people say “wow.” Whether it’s an advertising campaign, product launch, or conference keynote address, they’ll be able to capture compelling images of all those moments in time that can help tell your story. Planning an Engagement Session for the Photos That Will Last a Lifetime

Planning an engagement session is one of the most important decisions you will make in your relationship. The photos from this day will last a lifetime and can be passed down through generations to come. There are so many things that need to go into planning the perfect engagement session, which is why we have compiled them all for you right here!

Find the right Photographer

The best way to start planning an engagement photography session is to start with researching photographers in your area who specialize in capturing these types of moments. Start by looking on social media accounts as well as their website galleries to see if they fit what you’re going for and then contact them directly via email or phone call (or both!)

The engagement session should be an intimate photoshoot with a photographer that you are comfortable around. Come up with a list of photographers in your area and then reach out to them for pricing information, sample photos, or any other type of information they can provide so you know what it’s like working with each one! Every engagement session should have different photographs taken at different times throughout the day, not just during sunset because it looks pretty. For example: maybe there will be some shots in natural light while others happen when artificial lighting sets everything off beautifully. Make sure all of this is part of your contract before finalizing anything!

You should also ask each photographer what their engagement session package includes. This way, you know exactly what is included in the cost of your investment so there are no surprises later on down the line when it comes time to select photos for your stationery or other types of items that will need photographs!

Planning out the Theme

Do you have a theme in mind? There are so many themes that can be incorporated into your engagement session. You will want to think about the time of year, where it takes place, and what colors do you like or dislike. Themes could include anything from beach-themed engagement sessions during springtime to mountain-themed engagements for those living closer to the mountains!

Choosing your Location

Do you have a geographic location in mind? A lot of couples want to incorporate their favorite places into an engagement session. Some people like incorporating the city they met, or where they will be getting married – it’s up to you! You can also choose to do park sessions for engagements that take place during late spring and summer. We recommend choosing locations with great scenery so these photos last longer than just one day. There are many different engagement photo ideas out there, but we think some of the best ones come from exploring new places together!

Engagement sessions can be done in any location or city as long as you find a photographer who is willing to travel. It’s also important that the couple knows where they want their engagement session so they can plan it with the photographer beforehand. Whether it’s at your house, on a hiking trail, near an iconic landmark – there are many options for locations! You should always keep in mind how much time will be needed for each location and know if this type of photography turns out best in natural light or not (some photographers work better based on sunlight).

Setting a Timeline (and budget)

An important thing is setting up a timeline ahead of time before booking your engagement photography package; this way you know you’re booking a time that works for both of you. We recommend setting up the engagement session about six months before your wedding date, but it may be earlier or later depending on personal preference and availability.

Engagement sessions usually last about two hours – if not more! It also depends on how many locations you want to do during an engagement shoot; some people like going all day long while others don’t need as much content so they can save their budget for their big day. This is something to keep in mind when figuring out what kind of package will work best for each individual couple’s needs. A lot of couples decide to put this money towards photography packages instead because it lasts forever and gives them memories from every important moment.
